A report by the worlds largest insurer Swiss Re has revealed the terrible cost of lives to man made and natural disasters across the globe.
The report says that the disasters have led to a financial loss of around £30.2 billion. The disasters included severs damage to Bangladesh due to the terrible flooding caused by monsoon rains and cyclones. Unfortunately around 4 thousand lives were claimed.
The largest bill for any insurers was the winter storm Kyrill which hit an area that took in a huge area of northern Europe and caused more than £2.5 billion worth of damage and costs. The severe flooding in the UK during June and July cost British insurers £3. billion. The US suffered raging fires in California and a winter storm that caused havoc on the east coast during April. The total cost for insured catastrophes is £4.5 billion higher than in 2006.
